Below, we’ll explore downtown Montgomery and the events that fill its calendar each year.

Downtown Montgomery

Montgomery’s downtown exudes small-town charm with its tree-lined streets, historic architecture, and an eclectic mix of shops, boutiques, and eateries. Whether you’re craving an excellent cup of Joe, browsing for unique gifts, or savoring a gourmet meal, you’ll find it in downtown Montgomery.

Consider relaxing and unwinding at Woodhouse Day Spa. We also recommend strolling the sidewalks of downtown (often called Old Montgomery) in the summer, preferably with a scoop from Aglamesis Brothers ice cream shop.

A calendar full of activities

One of the hallmarks of Montgomery living is the abundance of activities and events that take place year-round. From family-friendly festivals to cultural celebrations and community gatherings, there’s always something happening in Montgomery to entertain and inspire. A few favorites return every year.

Montgomery Farmers’ Market

On Saturday mornings from May through October, locals gather at 9609 Montgomery Road to shop fresh produce, artisanal goods, and handmade crafts at the Montgomery Farmers’ Market. The 2026 season runs May 2 through October 31, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support local farmers and artisans while enjoying the community atmosphere.

Independence Day

Each Fourth of July, the City of Montgomery hosts an Independence Day parade and festival, one of the busiest days of the year downtown.

Bastille Day

Each July, Montgomery celebrates Bastille Day in its historic downtown between Cooper and Remington Roads, a tradition tied to the city’s sister-city relationship with Neuilly-Plaisance, France. The 2026 celebration ran from 4 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, with live music, French wine, crepes, and food for every taste.
